Oregon NAME conference, Salem, May 16
Dear Portland Area Rethinking Schools friends,
Unfortunately, the Oregon conference of the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) had to be postponed because of the closure of Western Oregon University due to a case of swine flu. It has been rescheduled for SATURDAY, MAY 16, McKay High School in Salem. Please attend, if you can.
Below is a note from Chloë Myers, who teaches at Western and is one of the conference planners.
Thanks.

The OregonNAME Planning Committee apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the sudden postponement of the OregonNAME Conference at Western Oregon University, May 1, 2009. As we hope you already know, the situation was beyond our control. The closure of the Western campus was made under recommendation by the Oregon Department of Public Health in response to the N1H1 epidemic.
We have been working to reestablish a date and location as well as striving to bring you a quality conference on our stated theme. We are delighted to announce that the McKay High School Administration in Salem has graciously agreed to host the conference on May 16 at McKay High School in Salem. Our prior keynoter, James Loewen, will be with us via video conference for part of the morning. In addition, we are pleased to bring you a general session with Cornel Pewewardy, a NAME Founder. In the afternoon, you will have choices of concurrent sessions during two time periods. We are rescheduling vendors and will have a raffle at the end of the day. We do hope that you will be able to attend this conference. More information will be forthcoming at http://oregonname.org/.
Thank you for your patience. We look forward to seeing you soon.
